#2

"Candy for the children!"
laughed the lying newscaster
reading from the
poisonous teleprompter
"SWEEP THE FLOORS"
yelled the weeping monarch
while drinking all the wine in the palace
and sitting in his uncomfortable throne
"Come back to me"
pleaded the lonely father
to the lost son
who lives in a house
with closed windows
and stained furniture,
who sees the flaws of the sky
from under his bed.
"I'm not gone though,"
replies the lost son
"The world is gone."
The lonely father hangs up the phone
and hangs up his shirt.
the crickets are out of tune
the beavers build a broken dam
the fish gasp for air
and
the world is gone.
